Baku has quietly become the most requested short haul journey on our desk, and it deserves the attention. Short flight, easy visa, and a city that stays awake late enough for families with children.
The five day shape
A route we have refined over many family departures.
- Day one, arrive at Heydar Aliyev, transfer in and an easy evening on the boulevard
- Day two, Icherisheher the walled old city, Maiden Tower and Nizami street
- Day three, north to Gabala or Guba for mountain air, waterfalls and the cable car
- Day four, Absheron for the fire temple and the mud volcanoes, Flame Towers after dark
- Day five, Taza Bazaar for saffron and nuts, then the transfer home
Visa and money
Azerbaijan is one of the more approachable visas on a Pakistani passport, and the process is document light compared with Schengen. We handle the application alongside the booking so the two do not drift apart.
Budget in advance for taxis, the cable car and entrance fees. Cards work widely in the city but carry cash for the mountain day.
When to go
April to June and September to early November are the kind months. July and August are hot in the city, though the mountains stay pleasant. Winter has its own quiet charm and the lowest fares of the year.
